J.R. Smith :: Bruce Bennett/Getty Images

Whether he’s posting a pic of his hookup’s ample posterior or declaring war on another team’s point guard, J.R. Smith seldom disappoints on Twitter. And yesterday night was another doozy for the Knicks guard — he live-tweeted being locked in his garage.

JFK: 50 Years Ago Today

Since we’re all being deluged with stories about John F. Kennedy‘s assassination, SI put together this gallery of JFK and Sports.

France Loves Its Porn

Marc Dorcel, a top French porn producer, offered to remove the pay wall on his website for an entire night if France beat Ukraine and qualified for the World Cup finals. The French were victorious and within 45 seconds of the final whistle. Dorel’s site crashed because its servers were overloaded. So in conclusion, the French love their porn and more importantly, the Ukraine is weak.

Mike Tyson in 1985

On this day in 1986, 20-year-old Mike Tyson defeated Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history. A year earlier, legendary SI writer William Nack visited The Catskills for the magazine’s first feature on Tyson. At the time, Tyson was 15-0 and working under the tutelage of trainer and adopted father Cus D’Amato. These photos, several of which have never been published, were taken by SI’s Manny Millan for the story.

It’s been exactly one year since the butt-fumble. Mark Sanchez celebrated by getting cornrows.

In Craig Sager news

NFL Round-Up

The Patriots prevailed in an 34-31 overtime thriller last night, which included Tom Brady having one of the season’s best TD celebrations as well as one of the most awkward hugs. Two cameraman nearly brawled trying to get a good shot of the handshake between Peyton Manning and Brady. In other NFL news, Chiefs coach Andy Reid showed off his basketball skills by boxing-out Philip Riversthe Jets sideline was penalized 15 yards for obstructing an official, Ben Roethlisberger had a perfect pooch punt, Cam Newton did his best LeBron James impersonation (though the day’s best celebration belongs to Colts defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois) and the Long brothers were right in the middle of a brawl during the Rams-Bears game. The day’s MVPs however, are these Green Bay Packers fans who wore their bikinis on a 20-degree day at Lambeau Field.

Meanwhile at the AMAs

While the Patriots and Broncos were battling in Foxboro, the American Music Awards were being handed out in Los Angeles. Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen donned a cowboy hat and presented the award for Favorite Country Male Artist to Luke Bryan. Of course, there’s only one awkward cowboy in sports and that distinction belongs to Chris Bosh.

James Dolan vs. Woody Allen

Knicks owner James Dolan banned Woody Allen from a VIP suite at Madison Square Garden because the actor didn’t want to go on the MSG channel and discuss his movies.

Happy 50th birthday Bernie Kosar. In this photo taken from SI’s 1984 football preview issue, Kosar, the Miami Hurricanes QB, poses with Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. A cake made out of 30 grilled cheese sandwiches.

Quote of the Day

“We suck.”

Jon Bon Jovi is considering buying the Buffalo Bills … This cake, a replication of the Ballpark at Arlington, is pretty incredible … David Beckham plans to develop a 75,000-seat stadium in Miami for his new MLS team … Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick went off on Mike Ditka and the talkative New York Giants … It’s getting ugly in a hurry for Jason Kidd and the Nets.

Each Monday in P.M. Hot Clicks, we look at the best fan signs of the past week.

Peyton Manning’s Bad Weekend

The frigid New England weather isn’t the only thing Peyton Manning has trouble managing. According to a TMZ report, workers at a Manning-owned Papa John’s in Denver were told to ignore police advice and continue making pizzas after the store was robbed at gunpoint earlier this month.

This Is What a $48 Million Contract Looks Like

Kobe Bryant tweeted out a photo of his John Hancock on a new two-year, $48.5 million contract extension with the Lakers.

Lovely Lady Of The Day

Miss California Mabelynn Capeluj was spotted with Padres hurler Casey Kelly, which is a good reason for me to showcase herCameron Russell is one reason to shop at H&M … Candice Swanepoel traveled to St. Bart’s for a Victoria’s Secret fashion shoot.

Best Helmet Ever?

Yes this is completely subjective but the helmets Navy will wear for its Dec. 14 game against Army may be my favorite of all time. Here’s a look at both teams’ uniforms for the annual rivalry game.

Tuck Rule

The Cowboys may have beaten the Giants on Sunday but defensive lineman Justin Tuck got the last laugh at trash-talking Cowboys fans when he tweeted this photo of his two Super Bowl rings.

Curse of the Well-Performing Punter

Earlier this season, Colts punter Pat McAfee was tested for steroids after he laid out Broncos receiver Trindon Holliday with a huge hit on the sideline. Steve Weatherford also caught the eye of the NFL after two punts over 65 yards during yesterday’s Giants-Cowboys game. Though in fairness to Weatherford, he does have a better body than 98 percent of the NFL.

Odds and Ends

Jets defensive back Ed Reed has played in nine game this season. He has lost every one of themDrew Brees hasn’t made the best financial investments and wants an ex-teammate to pay for itJerry Glanville, 72, has thrown his hat into the ring for the head coaching job at Eastern Michigan … Chargers QB Philip Rivers is bringing back the bolo tie … Packers QB Aaron Rodgers may have the NFL’s top mustache.

Heather Locklear and Rex Ryan in 1981 :: Getty Images, Courtesy of Southwestern Oklahoma St.

It never gets boring with Rex Ryan, who is featured in an upcoming book (Collision Low Crossers) about a season with the Jets. A tiny nugget has leaked — and it’s sensational. According to the book, Ryan was sent a Heather Locklear poster last season by one of his assistant coaches, and to his dismay, the blonde beauty had her shoes on. If you remember, Ryan has a thing for feet. I contemplated moving this story down, finding a bunch of early ’80s Locklear pics like the one above, and making her the Lovely Lady of the Day. Perhaps for today’s PM Clicks … let’s vote on it.

The Curse of Vanilla Ice

The Texans have lost nine straight and players are starting to blame Vanilla Ice for it.

A Holiday Gift for Soccer Fans

Nothing to see here. Just some defecating Christmas figurines of major soccer stars.

Lovely Lady Of The Day

Banned in Locker Rooms

As the Knicks prepared to take on Portland last night, someone turned on the Monday Night Football game in the locker room. Amar’e Stoudemire then immediately had the TV turned off, saying “We’ve lost five straight games.” The ploy didn’t work as the Knicks lost 102-91. Meanwhile in Toronto, forward Rudy Gay has banned stat sheets from the locker room. The Raptors are 6-7 while the Knicks are 3-10.

Three Longform Recommendations

1) SI’s Thomas Lake on Tim Tebow and whether he’s played his last NFL game. 2) Mashable’s Sam Laird on 5-foot-7 YouTube legend Kiwi Gardner, who is now playing in the D-League. 3) Since it’s Shawn Kemp‘s birthday, here’s a 1996 SI profile of Seattle’s newest star.

Odds and Ends

Lightning forward Martin St. Louis ruined a perfectly fist-pump goal celebration with an unexpected tumble to the ice … The Booty Lounge, Detroit’s mobile strip club, returned to the parking lot for Sunday’s game after a two-year ban … With the four-year anniversary coming up, here’s a refresher on the Elin Nordegren-Tiger Woods 2009 Thanksgiving from hell … Redskins QB Robert Griffin III got kicked in the family jewels last night and was the subject of controversy when his dad showed up in the locker room after the game … There will be a remake of Road House … The Mets sang a really bad version of Sleigh Ride.

Hockey Video Of The Day

Canucks forward Daniel Sedin pulls out his tooth after getting a high stick to the face.

These Two Do Not Like Each Other

UMass basketball is back in the Top 25 after a 15-year absence. Kentucky is No. 3 in the nation. Seems like a good enough excuse to replay this classic 1994 press conference when then-UMass coach John Calipari and then-Temple coach John Chaney nearly came to blows.

Kobe Off the Court

As Kobe Bryant counts his money – he just signed a $48.5 million, two-year deal to stay with the Lakers – we look at his best off-the-court photos.

Ohio State Pumped for Michigan

Michigan and Ohio State face off on Saturday and the Buckeyes seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer broke his “never say Michigan” rule during Monday’s press conference when discussing his hatred toward the Wolverines. Later in the day, safety Christian Bryant tweeted a picture of himself standing on a Michigan jersey with the hashtag #NORESPECT. Also, 1,500 OSU students braved the cold and upheld tradition by jumping into Mirror Lake. Your move, Michigan.

Happy Days Coming to Milwaukee?

A group of Bucks fans are trying launch a billboard that will encourage the team’s ownership to tank this season, or as they put it, “part with high-priced journeymen veteran players and focus on building around young talent acquired with high draft picks.” Not sure the billboard is necessary. Milwaukee is currently 2-11 and owns the NBA’s second-worst record.

Lovely Lady Round-Up

In A.M. Hot Clicks, I asked if you’d like a retro Heather Locklear gallery. As of this writing (2:40 p.m., Tuesday), nearly 10,000 votes have been cast and 86 percent votes yes. So here’s an enormous gallery of Heather Locklear in the ’80s … If you want someone more modern, Nina Agdal should do the trick … And if that didn’t work, Minka Kelly in lingerie should.

Why I Love the Internet, Part 1

An Oklahoma State student made a sign about a porn star. Now that porn star wants to attend a game with that student.

Why I Love the Internet, Part 2

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith kicked Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III in the family jewels during Monday night’s game. The great CJ Fogler gave the kick a Street Fighter makeover and it’s awesome.

John Daly’s Adventures in South Africa

Judging from the look on his face, it’s fair to say the golfer isn’t a big snake guy.

This Will Never Happen

The Fritz Pollard Alliance sent a letter to the NFL requesting that improper language on the field result in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Good luck with all that.

Odds and Ends

This is what an NBA-themed ugly sweater party would look like … Lolo Jones earned a spot on the U.S. bobsled team for the competition at the Calgary World Cup … People in Alabama are trying to trade Iron Bowl tickets for assault rifles, at least according to some guy at FoxSports.com you may recognize … Further proof that Kanye West is becoming the least likable person on the planet.

Things I’m Thankful For in Sports

Random things from the sports world that make me happy: The ECHL’s bizarre and awesome alternate jerseys (this is just one example) … Talkative NFL players who are mic’d up during games … Coaches dancing in the locker room … College football fans and their topical signs … the underrated Kevin Harlan getting excited after a slam dunk … Baseball players and their elaborate handshakesLane Stewart photos (he’s a former SI photographer responsible for some of my favorite pics such as this, this and this) … surprise family reunions at sporting events that invlove a returning soldier … Jack Edwards doing play-by-play of a Milan Lucic fightMajor League, which I’ve seen 25,000 times and still makes me laugh.

The Curse of Ed Reed

A Monday Night Dud

Ed Hochuli and his interesting choice of words were the high point of Seattle’s victory over New Orleans last night. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll celebrated the victory by wearing a top hat and monocle (at least in this GIF) while the fans at CenturyLink Field celebrated by setting a Guinness World Record for loudest recorded crowd noise (and causing an earthquake.) To top off a horrendous night for the Saints, their team plane broke down trying to leave Seattle.

Stevie Johnson > DeSean Jackson

The Eagles receiver may be having a better year on the field but when it comes to birthday cakes, we’ll take the Bills receiver. To be more specific, Jackson recently celebrated his birthday with two cakes – one the shape of a Mercedes Benz and the other a $100 bill. But they pale in comparison to Johnson’s butt cake, which is still the clubhouse leader in athlete pastries.

Zygi Wilf and Mark Dayton :: Landov

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf and Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton broke ground on a new stadium last night, which would be a boring Hot Clicks item if not for this amazing photo.

Quote of the Year

“We eating pasta, he had elbow pasta, I had shell pasta, and I told him how my shell pasta is better than his elbow pasta. And he was pretty upset about that. He loves elbows pasta, but I disagree, I think shell pasta is better. I don’t care. I will stand by that. Shell pasta.’’
-Metta World Peace explaining his heated argument with teammate Kenyon Martin before Sunday’s game.

Coach of the Year

Brett Favre, the offensive coordinator for Mississippi’s Oak Grove High, hopes to lead his team to its first state championship when it plays Tupelo on Friday. I know the headline might be a bit much but I had a good theme going with the “of the year” stuff and didn’t want to ruin the flow. The real Coach of the Year may be Lawrence Frank, who will now earn $6 million filing daily reports after being removed from Jason Kidd‘s coaching staff in Brooklyn. That’s on top of the $3.7 million he is getting from the Pistons after they fired him with a year left on his deal.

Lovely Lady Of The Day

Brooklyn Decker, Chrissy Teigen and Erin Andrews are enjoying some type of “hottest girls alive” trip to Disneyworld, which inpsired me to bust out some of Decker’s best SI Swimsuit shots and make her today’s LLOD.

Bernard King and Ernie Grunfeld :: John Iacono/SI

As Bernard King celebrates his 57th birthday, we look back to 1976, when King, Ernie Grunfeld and their orange-striped pants had the Tennessee Vols on top of the college basketball world. This photo was taken for a January 1976 Sports Illustrated cover story on “the country’s most dazzling scoring combo.” The duo was recently featured in the 30 for 30 documentary The Bernie and Ernie Show.

A Reason To Like Nick Saban

Nick Saban was recently photographed with five-star recruit Cameron Robinson while holding a box of Oatmeal Cream Pies. It turns out Saban starts every day with an Oatmeal Cream Pie and cup of coffee, which is in a word, fantastic. OCPs simply don’t get the respect they deserve in the prepackaged dessert conversation and I applaud Saban for his dedication.

Mariano Rivera is Funny

rivera2

Roast may be too strong a word but Mariano Rivera cracked a few jokes at his former teammates expense during an appearance at Dick’s Sporting Goods yesterday. When asked about Christmas gifts for his ex-teammates, he joked about getting Derek Jeter a life-size female doll “so he would have a wife.” He also cracked on Robinson Cano and Joe Girardi. Can someone get this man a half-hour comedy special?

LeBron Goes Hollywood

The Heat forward will co-star in the movie Ballers with Kevin Hart. In the movie, Hart will play the brother of an NBA superstar who gets a chance to prove himself when he and some friends attend a weekend fantasy basketball camp.

New Wave In Twitter Trash Talk

The Blazers have every right to puff their chest today after beating Oklahoma City last night to improve to 16-3. And the team’s Twitter account is doing just that, poking fun at the NBA’s pitiful Eastern Conference with this tweet. The Twitter account of the Phoenix Suns soon joined in on the fun.

Lovely Lady Of The Day

Hannukah ended last night so we’re a tad late to this but Gunaxin has ranked the eight sexiest Jewish women. It’s a strong list though two big names are missing. The first is Lizzy Caplan, who you should really check out in Showtime’s Masters of Sex. The second is Gal Gadot, who was just chosen to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. But I’ll take any excuse to showcase Emmanuelle Chriqui, today’s LLOD, who came in sixth on Gunxin’s list.

Classic NFL Photos

It was announced this week that Neil Leifer will become the first photographer inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Leifer started shooting for SI as a 16-year-old in 1958 and went on to capture some of the most iconic images in sports. Our photo editors collected some of Leifer’s most iconic boxing images but since I like football 200 times more than boxing, I put together some of his classic NFL images for the gallery above.

Funny Rex

The Jets may be 5-7 and on a three-game losing streak, but at least head coach Rex Ryan still has a sense of humor. Ryan fell to the ground and cracked a few jokes after a loud noise that sounded like machine gun fire interrupted his press conference. Big Baby the Ballerina

Glen “Big Baby” Davis claims he’s at his lowest weight since eighth grade, which may explain his 33-point outburst Tuesday night against Philadelphia. SI’s Luke Winn profiled Davis in 2006 during his sophomore year at LSU and discovered that the big man took a ballet class in high school “to chase a girl.” So with Davis all slimmed down, I thought it’d be appropriate to bust out these ballet pics SI shot for the story.

Charles Barkley Rides the Subway

Kudos to my friend (and Hot Clicks editor) Richard Deitsch for this entertaining video and diary of Charles Barkley taking the New York City Subway for the first time.

This is Gross

Yesterday, we showed you Roy Hibbert’s deformed elbow. Today we have another deformed body part - the finger of former NFL wideout Antwaan Randle El. If that’s his finger, I wonder what Randle El’s neck looked like after this play.

NFL Roundup: Hello, Snow

Snow finally made an appearance and played havoc on Week 13 in the NFL. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson called Baltimore “the worst fan base I’ve experienced” for throwing snowballs throughout the game. It was a bad day for Peterson, who was carted off the field with a foot injury and then had to wait three hours at the airport after the Vikings team plane was delayed after being smashed by a catering truck. The Eagles and Lions played in the day’s snowiest game, which looked a lot more fun to watch on TV than attend in person. Peyton Manning, who was the subject of this puzzling photo, told critics to shove the idea that he can’t play in the snow “where the sun don’t shine” after Denver’s 51-28 pummeling of the Titans. In other NFL news, referee Jeff Triplette once again blew a huge call,  Eagles cornerback Bradley Fletcher needs a refresher course on the rules and nobody came to FedEx field for the Redskins-Chiefs game.

This Is Ugly

Sebastien Courcelles, a center for the Thetford-Mines Isothermic of the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey, got his left cheek gashed after taking a skate to the face. It’s graphic and disgusting.

Why Rudy Gay Will Never Be Broke

Rudy Gay, who is making $17 million this season, asked the Raptors for a refund on tickets he bought for friends to watch him play against the Lakers. Gay had been to the Kings earlier in the day so he no longer needed tickets to a Raptors-Lakers game.

Lovely Lady Of The Day

I thought I spotted SI Swimsuit model Jessica Gomes on the PATH train during my commute in from Jersey City this morning so I decided to say hello. I was greeted with a strange look and a thick, scary Long Island accent (instead of Gomes’ Australian cadence) telling me I had the wrong person. So I embarrassed myself pretty good but decided to make up for it by honoring Gomes as today’s LLOD. Good story, right?

Living The Good Life

Rays manager Joe Maddon was recently asked about the David Price trade rumors to which he responded, “Honestly, listen, I’ve been in an RV for a month,” Maddon said. “I just saw my grandkids in Arizona, hung out in Long Beach for about a week. I mean this sincerely, I really put it down. I’m pretty good at putting it down. I think it’s important to put it down.” I did some research and found out that Madden has been putting it down in this $300,000 luxury RV.
